Violence Against Women Act

This week, the House of Representatives will vote for the re-authorization of the Violence Against Women Act. The updated act will improve the prevention of violence against women, support communities of color, increase access to housing for victims, prevent domestic abusers from obtaining firearms, help victims gain and maintain economic independence, and enhance the healthcare system’s response to domestic violence and sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.
