Curriculum

The GRACE Curriculum is a 10 week Bible study curriculum designed specifically for women seeking healing from sexual abuse and includes the topics listed below. Click on each topic for a brief overview of the chapter.

Why would a good God allow such a horrible thing to happen to me? This is a valid question, and to answer it we must understand the world we live in.

We often feel disgusting and condemned, desperate and powerless to be anything more because we have embraced a false identity. We begin to think we don’t deserve any better lot in life and that if we had been a different person the abuse would not have happened to us. However, our identity cannot be shaken because it rests in the hands of God and not on the ebb and flow of life’s experiences. We are God’s treasured possession!

One of the most significant reactions to sexual abuse is shame. Addressing it is vital because shame separates us from God and makes us powerless to change.

Our enemy jumps at the chance to use the sexual assault to trap us in the bondage of unforgiveness. Forgiveness releases us from the anger, resentment, hatred, and bitterness that destroy us.

Our enemy attempts to use the sexual abuse to paralyze our effectiveness in the kingdom of God. However, God has equipped us, and we can be a mighty warrior for the LORD by putting on the armor of God!

Sexual abuse injures our mind, body, and spirit with a myriad of short and long term consequences. No matter the injury, Jesus Christ offers complete healing of our mind, body, and spirit!

Sexual abuse invades our privacy and violates our boundaries. As a result, we often have a poor understanding of boundaries, and we may have trouble creating healthy limits in relationships. We must understand biblical boundaries and utilize them appropriately to attain the relationships God always intended for us.

Our abusive sexual encounters encourage a perverted view of sex, and we may ultimately draw the conclusion that sex is evil because of what has been done to us. Being a woman of purity is about connecting to our purpose, realizing the talents and gifts the LORD has placed inside of us, and then leveraging them for the Kingdom.

Because of the resurrection of Jesus, our ruins can come to life! The devil tried to destroy our lives through sexual abuse. However, God has far greater plans to transform our story and our lives through His redemptive power to make us fit for the Kingdom’s use.

God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He’s set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much […] But now, by giving himself completely at the Cross, actually dying for you, Christ brought you over to God’s side and put your lives together, whole and holy in his presence.
